Jr Gong has been honing his skills—not so quietly—for some time. He made noise early on with 1996’s Mr Marley, and his major label debut Halfway Tree showcased a unique gift for blending hard-hitting reality rhymes and an uncommonly eclectic musicality; with a classic reggae sensibility at its core and run through with streams of hip-hop, r&b and dancehall, the album resonated with urban tastemakers and won a Grammy for Best Reggae Album in 2001. ("A Grammy in reggae is good," he observes. "But it will be great to see reggae win Album Of The Year...it's not about one man shut off from the rest of the crabs in the barrel." So while slow-burners like "It was Written" and "Educated Fools" became club classics, Jr Gong was laying the groundwork for the tracks that would become Welcome To Jamrock—an album that was ultimately several years in the making. Hear the album and you instantly understand it to be the work of a perfectionist; Jr Gong is not focused on overnight success. "Some songs just come. 'Jamrock' was like that," he explains. "But other songs take a lot longer. This is street music, and the streets have to feel it."

Combining hip-hop sensibilities with drum n'bass leanings and a strong taste for the absurdly silly and abstractly surreal, Wally has been carving his own niche on the worldwide beatheadz stage now for over 8 years as well as spinning wax for over 16 years. Wally has released his music through such labels as Mo' Wax, Liquid Sky and Ubiquity... and now the Agris.

DJ/producer DJ Drez is one of the most prominent and influential DJs in the LA underground hip hop scene. Drez explores boundaries by combining yesterdays roots with the ingenuity of todays hip hop. Although Drez is primarily known as a Hip Hop DJ and producer, those who know him well have experienced his talents for jazz, soul and world music. From mix tapes to full length albums, Drez has contributed to the world of music since the early 90s.

Musically speaking, New York native, Nickodemus, is probably as open-minded as it gets. Stephon Moulton more popularly known as Ras Myrhdak was born on March 3, 1977. He grew up in the Linton Park in Brown's Town, St. Ann; a parish known for Reggae greats like Bob Marley, Burning Spear and Barrington Levy. Myrhdak's interest in music started at the tender age of eight when he began singing bass in his mother's choir at the local Church of God. As he grew older his love for music was even greater than before and while attending Brown's Town Comprehensive High School, he started to establish himself as a singjay.

Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan was and is still very much considered to be the greatest Qawwal (singer of Qawwali music) in the world; not only recognized as a legend in his native Pakistan he also took his musical messages of peace, love and spirituality to the international stage, earning him the title of Pakistan's premier ambassador of Qawwali music. The origins of Qawwali music trace back over seven hundred years to the spiritual Samah songs of Persia and the mystical faith of Sufism.

Perfect, born Greg Rose, grew up in the cool hills of Bamboo in the parish of St. Ann, where he was constantly exposed to the rhythms of Jamaica because his father owned several jukeboxes. Bob Marley, Peter Tosh and Toots Hibbert have been his early favourites from these days on, and have significantly influenced his style in music.
